Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A sharp surface trough lies over the western Pilbara, with a broader area of low pressure extending through to the North Interior.

Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A high pressure ridge is developing to the south of the State. A broad trough of low pressure extends from the inland Gascoyne to central parts of the South West Land Division and will develop over the next few days, with the very hot conditions in the north gradually extending southeast. The trough will move over eastern parts of the State on Wednesday as a weak front brushes the southwest of the state. A ridge will then develop south of the State during Thursday and Friday.

Showers and thunderstorms through the Kimberley, far eastern Pilbara and the Interior.

Forecast for Monday 31 December
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Interior, Goldfields and eastern Central Wheat Belt. Showers about the south coast west of Albany. Very hot through northern and central parts.

Forecast for Tuesday 1 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, eastern Pilbara, northeastern Goldfields, Interior, far northeast Gascoyne, Eucla and eastern parts of the South West Land Division. Very hot away from southwestern parts of the State.

Forecast for Wednesday 2 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, far eastern Pilbara, Interior and the Eucla. Showers possible southwest of a line from Perth to Albany. Very hot away from southwestern parts of the State, particularly over the southern Interior and Eucla.

Forecast for Thursday 3 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, far eastern Pilbara, Interior and the Eucla. Early showers possible near the west coast south of Dongara and over southern coastal parts west of Esperance and adjacent inland parts.

The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:45 am WST Monday.
