Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A trough lies across the Kimberley and into the east Pilbara. A secondary trough extends from the west Pilbara towards the southern and central districts. This secondary trough will push eastwards into the North Interior on Thursday and into the Northern Territory on Friday allowing the Kimberley trough to consolidate along the north coast over the weekend.

Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A deep trough lies inland of the west coast and a vigorous cold front approaches from the west. The trough will move eastwards across the State during Thursday ahead of a vigorous cold front which will move push over southern parts of the State in its wake. A ridge of high pressure will develop over the Central West coast and extend eastwards on Friday and Saturday. A weak cold front will then brush the southwest of the State during Sunday.

Forecast for the rest of Wednesday 17 October
Showers and thunderstorms in the north and east Kimberley. Showers developing near the Southwest Capes towards midnight.

Forecast for Thursday 18 October
Showers extending throughout the South West Land Division and western Gascoyne during the morning, reaching the southwest Goldfields in the afternoon and the far western Eucla in the evening. Thunderstorm developing near west coast south of Lancelin in the morning and along the south coast in the afternoon and evening with small hail possible near the south coast later. Showers and thunderstorms over the north and east Kimberley. Hot to very hot and windy over the eastern Gascoyne, Goldfields, Eucla and South Interior, with areas of raised dust possible in the afternoon.

Forecast for Friday 19 October
Showers near the south coast and about the west coast south of Dongara, contracting to the western south coast during the day. Showers and thunderstorms over the north and east Kimberley during the afternoon and evening.

Forecast for Saturday 20 October
Showers southwest of a line Lancelin to Albany, mostly in the afternoon for inland parts. Showers and thunderstorms over the north Kimberley during the afternoon and evening.

Forecast for Sunday 21 October
A band of showers extending through the South West Land Division during the day, contracting to south coastal parts in the evening. Showers and thunderstorms over the north Kimberley during the afternoon and evening.
